Moving and Handling Refresher

If you care for someone with a disability or illness and have already been trained in moving and handling, this course will refresh your knowledge, practical skills and confidence in moving and handling someone safely. Reminding yourself of the correct techniques for moving and handling people and updating your knowledge of the latest legislation will help protect you and could save you from a bad back and other complaints later in life.

This half day course (3 hours, as well as a 15 minute break) is certified.

Who should attend

Any carers and nurses who need or want to refresh and update their skills in moving or handling people in their own home, care home, community group or hospital. This course is also suitable for family members, friends, and caregivers.

Each course is limited to 8 delegates in order to maximise learning opportunities.

You will be required to sign a disclaimer at the introduction session that you are physically fit to take part.

What you will learn

  • Review of legislation relating to manual handling operations
  • Review of controversial techniques
  • Practical training refresher on use of small manual handling aids, safer manual handling techniques using principles of biomechanics.
  • Hoist practice refresher

Delegates will be provided with a pack of learning materials and will be awarded with a certificate upon completion of the course.

Training methods

Lectures, group and individual work, discussions, and practical exercises. All of our trainers are both well qualified and highly experienced.

We will agree dates and times that are convenient for you.

Location

We can run this course at either your premises or our offices in Fife.

Cost

£50 + VAT per delegate (minimum 4 delegates)

Travel and subsistence costs may be incurred depending on the location of the training.
